Toddler Bennett

Bennett spent last Saturday with his Daddy while I was at work; on the agenda: a haircut. This would be his second cut but I was along for the first and was very conservative in my description of how much to take off. Brent had a different approah this time around - I left my baby in the morning and came home to a toddler that afternoon. He looks so grown up with short hair!

Before: baby shagAfter: toddler 'do

Laundry Dance

Bennett was "helping" me with the laundry when he found a pair of underwear, fashioned a lovely hat, and felt inspired to groove to the tunes.

Coupeville

My boys planned me a beautiful birthday weekend...but it didn't go exactly according to plan. We headed to Whidbey Island to enjoy the town of Coupeville. On the agenda: leisurely meals at local seafood joints, beer and UW basketball, beach combing, and a relaxing stay at a local inn. Turns out, Bennett doesn't like Coupeville - or at least he doesn't like to sleep in Coupeville. So, after leaving the hotel at 5 am (after never actually going to sleep), we enacted plan B: nap in the car, have Karen and Andy cook us breakfast, and hit the local nursery for plants to start a gardening project. I have no photos from Coupeville - but here are a few of my boys that I love so much doing what they love so much...playing in the dirt. Thank you Karen and Andy for watching Lola and for feeding us despite our unannounced arrival at 8 am - you are good friends!

Pooh Goes Visiting and Pooh and Piglet Nearly Catch a Woozle

... So he started to climb out of the hole. He pulled with his front paws, and pushed with his back paws, and in a little while his nose was out again...and then his ears...and then his front paws...and then his shoulders...and then - 'Oh bother!' said Pooh. 'I shall have to go on.' 'Oh, help!' said Pooh. 'I'd better go back.' 'I can't do either!' said Pooh. 'Oh, help and bother!'

I did eventually stop laughing, put the camera down and help him out of his predicament. Next time I build a nice tunnel for him, maybe he'll remember the 'Q' and 'D' windows don't make the best doors :)

12 Month Stats (1 Month late)

We finally had our 12 month appointment:
Weight 21 lbs, 2 oz (25%)
Length 29 in (20%)
Head Circ 46.3 cm (45%)

He's fallen off the growth curve a little but we've had a lot of change recently (switching to cow's milk, eating meals at daycare, new teeth) and are hoping he'll pick right back up by 15 months. The appointment was otherwise fine - he's right on track for all his developmental milestones and charmed the doctors with his smile and kisses. He was such a brave boy for his shots so after the appointment (and a good nap) we went and picked out a few new books, played on the playground and went for a swim. All in all, a great day. The video is of his intermediate phase of walking - on his knees - his preferred way to get around these days. He has taken a few steps in the last week and is standing unsupported more confidently.

Bathtime

I recently discovered this photo (thank you Shauna) and it makes me laugh so much. Bennett LOVES bathtime and is expressing here how he doesn't understand or appreciate the delay of getting into the tub. Ha. Love it.

PEPs Reunion

We got together with some of our friends from PEPs that we haven't seen in awhile for a little celebration of the babies One Year Birthday(s). It was so fun to see how they all have changed - Bennett had a great time, lots of new toys to discover and a cupcake to eat = a good day.
